Israeli forces take control of the Rafah border crossing as cease-fire efforts continue - DW News

Israel's military has seized control of the border crossing in Rafah, the southern Gazan city that has become a crucial entry point for humanitarian aid into the Strip from Egypt. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released images of what it says are its tanks rolling into the city, where over a million Palestinians have sought refuge.

Israel's incursion has cast renewed doubt that an imminent cease-fire deal with the militant group Hamas, which was responsible for the October 7 attacks, will be reached. - Aired on 05/07/2024.

The last Hamas battalion is hiding in Rafah, hiding behind women and children, and shooting rockets. https://abcnews.go.com/amp/International/live-updates/israel-hamas-cease-fire-talks/israel-shuts-kerem-shalom-crossing-to-humanitarian-aid-after-rockets-fired-from-rafah-idf-says-109937642?id=109734705

I imagine the IDF will encircle Rafah and slowly let out civilians until all that's left are Hamas fighters, then they will eliminate them.

The criticism is coming because this could lead to more civilian deaths since so many dispossessed families have taken refuge there.

The Gazan women and children should be allowed refugee status and safe passage into neighboring Arab countries, but nobody wants them. Egypt just keeps fortifying its wall along the Gaza border.

President Carter negotiated a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, shouldn't they allow refugees from the Israel/Hamas war?
