I think having to contend with the last 9 years of constant 15 minute news cycles is wearing on every one.
There are important news stories beyond trump.
Biden chose to stay low key and attend to business. Now that the campaign floodgates are opening, the Times deference to the trumpbeat and it's unfounded lashes at Biden to declare an insistence he kiss their ring, is not settling well with the dignity of Biden.
Giving Stern this forum, lets Biden be subject to a pretty high brow interview, without what could be a tad of vengeance, already on display, in the Times.
