Hope Hicks, a former close Trump adviser, takes the witness stand in his hush money trial

Source: AP News

NEW YORK (AP) -- Hope Hicks, a former longtime adviser to Donald Trump, took the witness stand Friday in his criminal trial, where prosecutors are expected to question her about her knowledge of hush money payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Hicks, who served as White House communications director, is the first close Trump adviser to testify in the case, which accuses the Republican former president of a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election by silencing women who claimed to have sexual encounters with him.

Hicks served as Trump's 2016 campaign press secretary and was one of a small number of early campaign staffers who joined his administration.

Prosecutors say Hicks spoke with Trump by phone during a frenzied effort to keep allegations of his marital infidelity out of the press after the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape leaked weeks before the 2016 election. In the tape, from 2005, Trump boasted about grabbing women without their permission.

"Hope Hicks witnessed nearly every Trump scandal. Now she must testify.
Friends say the former aide and Trump have not spoken since she testified to Congress about the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, but the two continue to have fondness for each other"

... until "Daddy" hired her away to work on his campaign. At the time Ms. Hicks had -zero- campaign experience and very little office experience.

But she met drumph’s “central casting” threshold. Will the magats be salivating over her?

Later, under cross-examination by a defense lawyer, Emil Bove, Ms. Hicks broke down, and court took a break, as Mr. Trump sat in the courtroom.

6. Her key line: Trump said "better to be dealing with it now, it would have been bad if during the election."

That's a confession folks. It's just Hope Hicks and Trump talking, in 2018, about WaPo's David Fahrenthold asking them about Cohen paying off Stormy Daniels. Only she could have provided that testimony. This was not Cohen, this was "honest Hope" nailing Trump. Her testimony showed Trump knew the payoff was all about the campaign, and was glad it got buried duried the election, and glad it didn't get out until 2018. Great testimony for the prosecution.

It killed her to have to say this devastating truth about her orange hero. That's why she started crying.

I wonder if she said the same things to Mueller that she said on the witness stand today?
