Cheney Blames Democrats for high gas prices (!!)

The Bush-Cheney campaign accuses Senate Democrats of blocking a Bush energy plan that would increase petroleum drilling and energy conservation and provide new tax breaks and other incentives to spur exploration and production.



"John Kerry (news - web sites) and John Edwards (news - web sites) voted no," Cheney said. "It's another area where I think there is a significant difference."



Cheney advocated increasing domestic oil production in wildlife areas in Alaska and other regions that are off-limits to development.



"We have put ourselves into a box. The only thing I can think of to do is to keep pushing for a comprehensive energy policy," he said. "We are at the mercy of those international oil prices."

Who the fuck is actually falling for this shit?? Certainly no self-respecting economist that's for sure.

First off you could drill an area that's 5 times as big as that reserve and that still wouldn't affect gas prices at least not in the long run.

Secondly, the higher prices are due primarily to the high consumption AND THE SHITTY ECONOMY WHICH HAS PRODUCED A WEAK DOLLAR WHICH MEANS MORE DOLLARS NECESSARY TO BUY CRUDE OIL AND GUESS WHO PAYS???

Also the hint that since gas is an inelastic product which means you will buy it no matter how much it costs that means the higher the price the higher the revenue, more money in the pockets of those who sell the stuff to you.

Which two fuckwads do you think could stand to profit from this sort of business?

Matt Simmons hopes he is wrong.


But if he’s right in his belief that Saudi Arabia’s giant oil fields might already have peaked and could start into rapid decline in as few as three years, somebody better have a “Plan B” ready or there’s no way, he says — absolutely no way — to avoid a world energy cataclysm.

Simmons asked for anybody, including the Saudis themselves, to refute his claim. But so far, in his view, nobody’s stepped up. He acknowledges, however, that the Saudis recently have been more forthcoming about their ability to supply all the extra oil the world will require from Saudi fields. But still, it appears that nobody is willing to counter his specific charges.

6. How about blaming the real culprits...

The American people and their insatiable consumption of oil. Not only in the form of gasoline (don't get me started on SUV drivers) but also in the form of increased demand on electrical generation systems, an ever increasing use of petroleum for plastics and other goods made with chemicals derived from oil, and of course the fuel for the trucks that haul all of our excess consumer goods to market.

Seems the only people profiting from the current oil market are those who own stock in oil companies and related industries. Hmmmm, now just who could that be?

11. I never claimed I didn't.

I merely pointed out that our national appetite for oil is enormous and it's growing. I do drive a car, but I don't drive one every day and I certainly don't drive solo in a Behemoth De Ville SUV built to haul nine people. I ride my bike most days but that's more for the exercise. I'd ride the bus but public transportation here abouts is pretty much nonexistent. Saving gas, and the money to buy it, is a nice side effect. There is certainly room in this country for a little conservation but there is little incentive to do so.

P.S. I just checked, my computer case is metal but my keyboard and monitor case are indeed plastic.

I understand what you're saying. You're advocating cutting down on consumption but not necessarily pointing fingers at the rest of us while you refuse to do your part.

I'm sorry but I can't stand that category of people that scream and point that YOU are the problem, yet they refuse to give up their own car, or plastic accessories, ect.
