| Question for Seattle folk... |
|
I will be vacationing in Seattle in mid September. What clothes should I pack? Cool weather clothes? Can I wear shorts during the day? Help me!!
I am from SE Texas where it is 10 am and already 90 degrees with a 101 degree heat index and 90% humidity. We wear shorts until about Christmas usually.

We usually have mild Septembers. I wear shorts exclusively from July through the first part of October, when the mornings and evenings start to get cool. There may be some rainy or overcast days, so pack a waterproof jacket and a pair of long pants too. We're very casual in Seattle, you won't need to dress up unless going to a business meeting, an exclusive restaurant, or the opera.
Hope you enjoy your trip to the Northwest!

| 6. I moved up here from Missouri. |

Note that the locals will wear shorts when us mid westerners will wear jeans. It never hit 70 here yesterday, but I wore shorts all day. Jeans, tees, shorts, long sleeve shirts and a rain jacket should do ya'. Come up to Mt Baker and see us.

In September the highs during the day are around 65-75 degrees normally. The lows at night will be in the 50's. Low humidity. The best advice is to dress in layers, because if the clouds roll in, it gets cool very quickly - bring a fleece or sweater. There's not a thing such as a warm cloudy day as there is in Texas. The weather in September is relatively dry, but you never know what the weather will be like.

Leave the umbrella at home, though. If we see it, we know instantly: TOURIST!!!

Except most of June, July, August, and September.
And for the most part, Seattle home owners don't put screens on their windows - try that in SE Texas!

...when I lived there. Though I may be heartier than most. Bring rain gear, since it has been known to occur in Seattle.

But September is really a lovely time to visit here. It will probably be in the 60s, maybe the 70s. The evenings and mornings will seem quite chilly to you, and there will be dew on the ground in the mornings.
I can wear shorts during the day in September here, but you might freeze. Still, I'd advise bringing a selection of clothes. Layering is always a good idea here.
I hope you have a really wonderful time in our beautiful city!!! :hi:

| 10. September is statistically our driest month |
|
and can often be what constitutes hot for Seattle - a SE Texan will probably find it on the cool side. No humidity to speak of, and a cloudy day will find temperatures in the 60s very quickly, so be prepared for both warm weather and cool, and bring a lightweight rain jacket.
September's our nicest month, usually. By the end of September, it starts to rain again.
