My reaction to Bush pulling yet another rug out from under us

06:49 pm: It's just too typical that Bush has gotten his tallywacker out and sent a boiling hot stream all over Congressman Richard Baker and Southeastern Louisiana. Our problem down here is we're not Shiites and we're on the Mississippi not the Tigris. But Bush's free-market Heritage Foundation twirps will be rubbing their hands together. "Block grants," Bush's boy said on WWL today. "We don't want the government into something private companies should be in."

And what will be those private companies' names? Perhaps Halliburton? Perhaps Brown and Root?

Garland Robinette really went after Bush's reconstruction czar, a pathetic nonentity along the lines of Paul Bremer. But it's Blanco that needs to do the confronting now.

I; do not live in La. anymore but most of my family does. Thanks for being outspoken enough to say the things my 82 year old mother cannot. She and my sister spent 3 days on a gym floor and 4 weeks here after Rita. I think a lot of Louisianas' problems started with Breaux ( and I say this as a yellow dog demo.) He voted with ;the Rep. so many times that he was on Bushs' buddy name list. Was Tozan one of your rep. or was he from Mississippi. He was another sell out. (really republican) and voted with the REp always. I have better Democrats in my back yard. I hope Landieu can get past the media champaign against her and not be swayed by the yes or no on the rebuilding funds earmarked for Louisiana.

Tauzin was originally a Dem, and Breaux's best friend. He and his wife shared a duplex with the Breauxs when they Billy and John were in law school.

I'm about done with the United States. There has to be another solution.

Anyone for the Party of the Republic of Louisiana/Partie Republique Louisianne? How about a UN protectorate? Repurchase by France?

Remember, the last civil was was settled by force of arms. There was no settlement of the issue of law as to whether a body of people could succeed. The only guiding document is the Declaration of Independence, and that would seem to come down on the side of fuck the United States. If they don't want to help, can't they please just let us be?
