55% of Americans oppose the plan...hear that republicans?

While Republicans cheer the bill's passage, however, 55% of Americans oppose the plan, according to a new CNN poll. Just 33% say they favor the GOP's proposals to reform the nation's tax code.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told CNN that Republicans will continue to try to sell the bill to the public.
"Absolutely. We're looking forward to it," McConnell said. "My view of this is, if we can't sell this to the American people, we ought to go into another line of work."

2. By the time people start seeing more money in their paychecks, the opposition will be weak.

People will start seeing more money in February or March.

By elections in 2018, hardcore Democrats -- like those here -- will be ready to skewer GOPers for a hundreds of legitimate reasons, including this tax crud.

Everyone else will wonder what the fuss was about. We can yell about the deficit/debt, but most people won't see any real impact of that for several years. Heck, if debt only goes up $1.5T over 10 years, that would be good (of course, that's a lie because this tax bill at best adds $1.5T to the already increasing debt).


Not saying this is what I want to happen, I'm saying it's what I think is likely to happen when most people start seeing more money in their paycheck.
