I own my own business, and I am not a billionaire. He is a billionaire, and he only inherited 100 to 400 million. Why is he so rich?
I figured it out. He even wrote a book about it.
He screwed everyone he ever did business with. I never thought of just flat out lying and looking at my customers as suckers, and just stealing from them. I'm serious. I never thought about just flat out screwing people. He's a genius.
Now the economy is "doing good" and it is. Whoever thought letting polluters pollute all they want, and eliminating all business restrictions, and letting corporations rape and pillage at will would make the economy "better"? True genius.
Gotta give credit where credit is due.
Now make sure you have fire insurance, flood insurance, a bunker, gold, lots of guns, 20 years worth of food, and can run like the wind.

(57,283 posts)I read an article about a year ago that said if he had just put his money in securities when he inherited it and left it alone, he would be worth far more than he is. In other words, he is not as good a business person as he claims to be. His main achievement with the money he inherited was to lose it.
I'll dig up the link.

(540 posts)And we all know it.
This post was of course a joke.
Trump is scum.
I never thought of being scum.
That's why I'm not a billionaire.
But I also don't have Mueller breathing down my neck.....

(64,816 posts)The inheritance number is closer to $375 million. Given that, and when it happened, had he simply invested broadly (DJIA, S&P, Nikei, Zurich, London, NASDAQ, etc.) he would have gotten to over $14 billion.
Then with an allowance at $200k a month after taxes the first year and took a 6% increase every year, AND started leasing a plane every year, there would be a pinch over $9 billion left.
The "claim" was $4.8 billion and that has since been challenged a half dozen times and is likely closer to 3.
So, the "brilliance" led to a reduction in net worth of $.2 to $6 billion dollars by doing NOTHING but living well.
Some businessman.

(50,236 posts)years together. This morning I was wondering aloud about whether we'd now be rich if we'd been criminals like Trump. I've always been obsessive about tracking expenditures down to a single pen or pencil and wouldn't dream of not paying for anything. Honesty doesn't pay . . . at least in cash.
