The Deplorables are already on the wrong side of a thirteen point deficit in the generic ballot:

The Turtle knows better than to alienate older folks, the one group that is least hostile to Trump and the Deplorables, i,e. Republicans.
Paul 'Atlas Shrugged' Ryan has no such compunctions.
I look forward to the Deplorable, i.e. Republican civil war.
ON EDIT- It is not from the benevolence of Mitch McConnell that he will leave Medicare and Social Security alone but for his desire to maintain his Senate majority. The major break in support in support for the Deplorables is between those under 45 and those over 45 with the latter group being much more likely to support the Deplorables. There is no way you can cut Medicare and social Security without affecting those who are currently 45 and over.

(11,676 posts)I'll tell you why I don't.
Dolt45 signed this bill into law today, he alienated the people you mentioned in your post.
He's 75 and I suspect he has few eff's to give wrt re-election. I really believe he's doing his final smash and grab.
He is an older folk and made it clear in this tax bill: he doesn't care. I'd wouldn't be surprised to see him retire before his next election cycle.
I am not a cynical person and I don't like disagreeing with you -- 99% of the time I do agree.

(34,661 posts)Adam Schif best described Mitch as "McConnell was the slimmest Politician I every known",and that was on Rachael Maddow a couple of weeks back. So agree.
Mitch is a power hungry victim card carrier.
