Republicans Getting Away With Massive Voter Suppression And We Do Nothing - We Will Lose Again

I mean it.

If hundreds of thousands of people can't vote, we can't possibly win.

We need a full on assault on the evil scum doing voting suppression to even have a chance.

It doesn't matter if 20% more Americans want to vote Democrat if they can't.

We need to GO TO WAR TO STOP THIS NOW.

W A R !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am all for a win on voting. However what is this war you ask for, how will we fight it, who will run it and how will we win it? Platitudes will not get us anywhere, we need more than that.

What we need is people to get off their collective asses and knock on doors, and get people to VOTE!. Nothing will change if we do not vote. GOTV and vote Democratic.

Someday you will need a hunting license or a concealed weapons permit to vote.

If we let them.

And it looks like we would.

Wow. You went from bold...we need to go to war, without a plan to do so, then in one short OP/ comment you said we are wimps because we will let them win without a fight. "If we let them. And it looks like we would."

This is Democratic Underground, yes it is a place for discussion, however it is not a place for defeatist attitudes nor a place to trash DEMOCRATS.

Lawsuits by the tens of thousands.

Anyone who has had their right to vote has standing I would assume.

paper ballots, hand counted at the precinct level. Demand that computerized election equipment -- DREs, optiscans, central tabulators, etc. be banned -- they have been banned in other countries, such as Germany, due to nontransparency.

Read up on election fraud at sites like gregpalast.com, VerifiedVoting.org, www.unhackthevote.com, or http://electiondefensealliance.org/(doesn't seem like it has been very active lately, but some great academic papers analyzing election results).

Show up (with groups - the more, the merrier), for certification hearings for "voting" equipment and enter testimony into the public record to protest certification of this corporate-controlled, proprietary computerized equipment that mars election transparency. Also demand that subcontractors such as Crosscheck be banned from contracts for computerized voter rolls.

Voting machine vendors have unlimited access to elections officials, and they make use of it. Elections officials need to be hearing from citizens.

Write letters to the media about it.

Hopefully this will get you started. There is so much to do!!!! If you have limited time, at least try to contribute to the above mentioned websites if you're able...

Most people are not against photo id. laws; they don't realize that they are being used to keep people from voting. What the Dems need to do is, instead of just being against the laws, is come out with an alternative that projects the same election security ,but does not deny some of the ability to vote.

Push back.

HARD.

It is voter suppression.

If you are you, you should be able to vote in your district unopposed, even if you lost your wallet. Or had a traffic ticket you couldn't pay. Or had your wallet stolen.

I read lots of things on DU about voter suppression. And it may well be true.

But where are the articles about people showing up and not being allowed to vote. Even a provisional ballot? Not necessarily doubting they exist but I just do not see them linked to here.

There is so much hyperbole on DU and every where now that I, a science fan am looking for proof. Not antic dotes.

Voter suppression makes people angry. Angry people would walk through fire to vote.

I wish "our leaders" understood this.

Too many who think like us don't vote.

Let’s put it this way: Using AL.com’s raw vote totals and the Washington Post’s exit polls—if every woman in the state assembled themselves and each one of Jones’ black female supporters stood beside a white woman who voted for him, there would still be 82,278 black women standing by themselves wondering “Where the white women at?”

Perhaps those that are not suppressed should get off their ass and vote...black women did.

but in California you can sign up at the registrar's office to work at a polling place. I did it for over five years, and eventually was an inspector, that's the title of the person in charge of a polling place. One person can make sure nothing bad goes on at a polling place, regardless of their position. It's a paid job here, too.

Vote by mail if you can. Everyone who votes by mail means one less person in line at the polling place. And your vote goes directly to the registrar's office which means no one at the polling place can interfere with it or refuse you.
