I very much enjoy checking in.

Right about now they should be finishing up the work on the nest. I think mating is late jan/feb for egg laying.

A cornhusk was a courtship item for Bald Eagles. Who knew?

Ozzie. I had really been obsessed with the eagle cam until then. Are the Decorah Eagles pretty safe to watch? I can't go through any more heartbreak.

A couple of years ago, there was a big storm that took the tree and nest down, but fortunately it was after the fledge and before nesting time. They built a starter nest for them and they actually ended up using it the next season.

I don't think that anyone can guarantee that something terrible won't happen. The fledgling that got electrocuted did help to educate people on what needs to be done to power lines to keep them safe for eagles.
