How does it all end??

I'm talking about the Russia investigation.

Does anyone have a strong feeling one way or another?

Does it end with a consensus amongst the Democratic and Republican members of the Senate?

Does it end with the resignation or impeachment of Donald Trump?

Does it end with many people going to jail?

Does it end with a total change in the political power in Washington?

Does it end with the re-election of Donald Trump in 2020?

Where do you see this investigation going?

1. I remember thinking that Bush Jr. was so despised that there was no way we'd re-elect him

and then we did.

So, it's possible it ends with the re-election of Trump .

3. I would think he would like to finish directly after the 2018 election because....

....he might interpret the election as the will of the people, and he might be correct?

If the people vote out the Republicans and vote in the Democrats, then he might feel comfortable turning his results over to the new House and Senate majorities?

Then, the question would be, what would they do with it?

7. That's what he probably thinks.

However, he's also undoubtedly worrying about Chump and the Thugs shutting down his investigation. He's running two gambits at once.

4. Not what I want, but I predict

The Muller Russian investigation will be a nothing burger.

No impeachment, see Nadlers comments. We on DU may want it, but I suspect we are a minority.

Trump will be reelected in 2018. Remember Bush's second term? Poeple will react positively to the growing economy, surge in home prices, surge in the stock market. We will have see what the tax bill does. Bottom line, most folks vote with their wallets.

If we are expecting a total reversal of the house and Senate, do some research. Maybe not going to happen.

As of today, the republicans are sitting on 2x more cash than the dems.

Ok, I may be a pessimist, but thats my read as a realist.

6. My best guesses based upon current known facts.

My best guesses as of today, but there is a lot of activity behind the scenes
and things can change at the drop of a hat.

Does anyone have a strong feeling one way or another?
Yes

Does it end with a consensus amongst the Democratic and Republican members of the Senate?
Informally yes, publicly no.

Does it end with the resignation
Higher probability

or impeachment of Donald Trump?
Lower probability, but chances of this increase the more he obstructs
and commits further crimes.

Does it end with many people going to jail?
Some people going to jail.

Does it end with a total change in the political power in Washington?
Significant change but not total.

Does it end with the re-election of Donald Trump in 2020?
Most likely not

Where do you see this investigation going?

8. Problem is, this isn't a cover up of a botched burglary.

Hell, if Nixon read the tea leaves better, he would have admitted that the burglary happened on his watch and his goons got carried away. It wasn't like he was getting great intel. The whole thing would have probably been dropped and everyone would move on.

Trump could be impeached, but the tentacles of something like this is far reaching. How many crimes? How many people involved? How do we stop this from happening again? When should the alarm go off when something is amiss?

Trump could pardon the whole damn lot of them, then Pence comes in and pardon's Trump. They may walk...but the investigation I think will continue well beyond Trump's departure.
