Are they beginning to feel better on the road to fascism?
Are they more accepting of the words and actions of the autocratic, oligarch Trump?
Has the media "normalized" more of his despicable acts than at the first of the year?
Will America be able to return to the times of the past after the Trump "experience"?
Are the sharp divisions reparable?

(46,201 posts)I see enough pushback from a variety of individuals and groups to be hopeful that Trump is temporary -- provided that some other Republican doesn't pick up where he left off.
Demonstrations, protests, public outcries, election results make me believe Trump is far from being accepted.

"Hiring Anti-Trump Conservative [Bret Stephens] Is Part Of New York Times' Effort To Expand Opinion," by HuffPost's Michael Calderone and Nick Baumann. NYT's Editorial Page Editor James Bennet said there "are many shades of conservatism and many shades of liberalism," and the Times owes it to readers to "capture a wide range."
And on Friday afternoon, NYT announced another WSJ writer (and former associate book editor), Bari Weiss, would join the opinion section.

(37,428 posts)The establishment is always strongly influenced by the sitting president. Trump may have pissed on tens of millions, sowing the seeds of his next failure, but the Beltway is normalizing him, and the Federal government is being remade in his ignorant, corrupt image.
