(24,324 posts)Wieland Welzel... By far my favorite active timpanist---
Crank up your speakers for both of these and you will see why I was a timpanist, among other things...
Berlin Phil - Simon Rattle, cond
beginning of 4th mvt of Mahler Sym #1.
Look at Wieland smile at 1:20.. He KNOWS !!!!
Wonderful guy, too...
And Paris Opera - Paavo Jarvi, cond
end of Sibelius 2nd SYM start at 40:00
Very "French" style of timpani playing .
If this doesn;t get a rise out of you, you are already deceased.. :>

(38,729 posts)Last night I watched an episode of The Crown where Anthony Eden got the boot after the Suez Crisis. The dude who tossed him said "There is no Justice in Politics".
Word to the wise.
Me 2. They always make it sound like something HUGE, and it turns out to be a nothingburger. I remember Olbermann's tweets to this effect, people speculating that he's announcing he's coming back to MSNBC. Same goes for Tweets suggesting that there's a big Mueller story coming, as if the cuffs are coming out for these bastages.
Love Lawrence and his show. Just don't like false hype.

(7,604 posts)I hope it's Paul Ryan's PAC, with more details than I've heard so far. That would be very good news indeed. Congressional GOPers are, at a minimum, complicit. Some are actively participating. Ryan is one of them.
