They aren't colluding so much as trying to establish something similar here where only the rich and connected will make the decisions. Trump is a perfect example of this; he's never had to answer to anyone but himself. All they need is to gerrymander their states and use the electoral college to their advantage. Putin has given them an outline on how to rule perpetually; grab the money (and power), use the justice system to wail on you're opponents and throw in some terrorism to keep people off balance and supporting your candidates.

In the long run this can not stand. Cronyism and nepotism eventually leads to collapse as the old order can not innovate their way out of their problems. I will lose heart if the Dems can not make significant progress in the midterm and eventual state and local elections.

There is the problem: Democrats are in the majority but don't vote.

We have to have candidates that speak to the problems and interests of voters and not of the donors. If we pick the right candidates, Democrats will get out and vote for them. And Democrats who can govern wisely will then be in charge.

We have no one to blame but ourselves if we don't win elections. We Democrats are in the majority in the country. But if we nominate boring pseudo-Democrats who don't speak clearly to the issue of declining wages and the excessive power of employers and oligarchs, we will continue to lose.

Why is it that employers in so many states in our country have the right to fire employees at will?

Let's start there. Employees should have a right to a fair hearing when terminated even if there is no discrimination based on race, gender, age, etc. Our law gives employers far too many rights in the workplace.

That's an issue no one seems to want to approach. But we Democrats should approach it. It would not only help employees get a fair chance but it would improve the work ethic because the employee who does not make an effort in the workplace would have no one but himself to blame when justly fired.

This is just one issue a strong Democratic Party and candidates could deal with.
