all of the deregulation Trump has made.
You know that there are accidents waiting to happen based on his 'deregulation'.
Who will he blame?

(14,490 posts)I assume you're speaking of domestic regulations. I can see some serious possibilities in the energy and transportation sectors and particularly with oil and gas exploration. Unfortunately, many industrial accidents will be swept under the rug in typical Republican style.
However, in the big picture, the most serious damage will be to everyday citizens that will suffer life-changing events due to health issues, workplace accidents, transportation accidents or economic problems that could have been prevented with sensible regulation. Most of those voices will never be heard.
Regarding blame, the standard Repug mantra will be followed: a.) never blame a Republican, b.) never blame a corporation, and c.) always blame a Democrat or a minority.

(49,001 posts)RepubliCON modus operandi: create massive problems and then when they show up during a period of Democratic control blame it all on Democrats.
It is up to liberals, progressives and Democrats to make sure that blame is properly assigned where responsibility rests.

(49,001 posts)Also, damaged lives rarely make the news unless there are tens of thousands.
Not being able to sue for workplace harassment in many cases, for example, will damage many lives and increase harassment which will damage yet more lives.
But it will not be reported, especially by a horse-race "both sides" mentality in the for-profit mega-corp media.
Of course progressives, liberals, and Democrats can support non-profit media and agitate to get stories heard. But even non-profit media is prone to the "both sides" fallacy.

(37,324 posts)There are a number of interesting ones that I've run into. Yeah, everybody knows about the lifeboats thing, but there are lots more. I tell my students: "Most of these regs came about because somebody died. Don't have a new reg written to your memory!"

(45,433 posts)or liberals or something. They don't use the same logic that we do.
If there's a train accident, they'll cut funding for trains and public transit.
If there's an accident at a power plant, they'll say coal is safer and subsidize it.
When there was the deepwater horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, their brilliant solution was to drill baby drill in national parks and wildlife refuges.

(2,226 posts)Some court battles, to get them enacted. Trump is ditching them like so mush trash. Many of his actions will create death and destruction. He threw away coal mining regs after dozens have died in mining accidents. Because he is friends with the mine owners. This is just one example. People die from air pollution every year, and this is after regs. But no more regs on cars and coal stacks. Im waiting for the next deep water horizon or exon Valdez accident. Our fishing industry will collapse, because they have gotten rid of fishing regs so fish industries can deplete their livelihoods by ignoring quotas and destroying the continuation of species.
How can millions of people let one man destroy everything they have stood for for a hundred years. Destroying our country because he Is sick, mean, nasty, greedy individual. And so is his base. This should not stand.
