If he just wants to spout off without challenge-He has Fox News for that, not the NYT.

This is how we got Judy Miller.
Judy Miller is how we got the Iraq War.
This batch of NYT journos on Trump will give us a *nuclear* war.

Trump is dictating the means of engagement with the media to a point where the interview loses meaning. Perhaps that's the goal. Just once, I want to see him interviewed like he's expected to know everything a @POTUS should know, and reporters don't dance around his insecurities.

5. Exactly. Not that TWITLER hasn't exposed himself all along, but his self-incriminations are fine.

Even if this particular reporter is a wingnut tool, his having relayed TWITLER's further self-exposures is a service. It's a matter of when-the-jerk-is-screwing-himself-get-out-of-the-way, in this case even if the reporter was unwitting about what he/reporter was doing.

That the NewsMax pal of TWITLER's was who facilitated the meeting is odd in itself, since this jerk is constantly on the air defending his pal, so why would he, who as a media big shot knows the game, let TWITLER walk himself into a booby trap?!1 The trap not being the reporter but rather TWITLER shooting off his idiot mouth. Again, not that he never does it --- sigh, my head is spinning...

3. FWIW it's the same journalist who started the Clinton email industry

He is apparently on very good terms with the Newsmax CEO:

The interview was enabled by Christopher Ruddy — a club member with a level of personal access to the president in Florida that rankles White House staffers. He invited New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt as his personal guest to lunch at Trump International Golf Club, sat near Trump’s regular table and brought the reporter over to meet the president, who was still in his golf clothes.
