General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTwitter should delete President Trump's account due to national security concerns!
It's one thing for the president to tweet idiotic comments about domestic affairs, ya know free speech and all. But now he's tweeting insane comments directed at a guy who is capable of killing thousands of South Koreans. President Trump's tweets could actually start a war.
I doubt Twitter has a rule which reads "Tweets should not risk starting international wars which may kill thousands" because who would think they needed such a rule? It's time they added this rule and enforced it!
Previously I was against Twitter shutting down President Trump's Twitter account because I'm for free speech and because I thought his tweets made him look bad which helped us Democrats. But now his tweets are becoming dangerous. He could push that other nut, Kim Jung-Un over the edge.
What do you guys think?
P.S. And yea, I'm new here although I've been reading the forum for months. I'm Anna, glad to finally join the conversation.

(20,809 posts)It's great that someone so young is so politically engaged. You must have learned a lot from your months of lurking.

(43 posts)I recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
My new job is behind a desk and I have a lot of free time which I can use as I please so I started seeking out political forums. That's how I found this place. While in college my political time was limited and done in real life. Unfortunately my efforts to get Secretary of State Hillary Clinton elected failed. Losing my home state of Pennsylvania to Trump was a real slap in the face.

(43 posts)I translate foreign correspondence and I act as an interpreter during live or video meetings. The firm has a lot of international clients. They deal mostly in social issues like handling adoptions. When I'm not needed there's really no such thing as busy work so they allow me to do as I please provided I'm close by in case I am needed. I'm a hyperglot so they know they are getting a good deal and so they don't micro-manage me.

(5,730 posts)Even most of his base people say they don't like his twitter posts, and that it makes him look unpresidential.
Let him continue to self destruct on his impulses that his staff can't control.

(43 posts)However now he's pushing the buttons of a madman who can kill thousands of South Koreans.
Kim Jung-Un thinks he's a God. He can't allow himself to be belittled. He might start a war if pushed too far. I'm afraid he actually thinks he can defeat the United States. He's only surrounded by yes-men and maybe they don't tell him just how powerful America really is.

As for Trump, Twitter gives him a platform. Banning him from Twitter would just result in other platforms. His asslickers would still cling to his idiocy.
Hard to believe such an idiot con-man can be president. Even with Putin's help. I often wake up in the morning wondering what the hell is wrong with America.
Welcome to DU! I love it here! Have been here just over a year.

(43 posts)I really enjoy reading this forum but I'm undecided on how much I'll love posting here. This board does not seem to have a lot tolerance for non-conformist liberal opinions, especially those opinions from us in the younger age group so I may end up getting banned :/
But that's okay. I'll still be able to read the threads and I can still post on PWA.

(1,474 posts)And you will not be for non-conformist liberal opinions. Sometimes I am not agreed with, but always with thoughtful and constructive views. Post what you believe. There is much value in everyone's beliefs. Even if some are not what you feel.

(24,971 posts)He's too loose and careless with his words on a social media forum. As POTUS, he simply can't be allowed to say whatever he wants to say. And after Trump is gone, there should be some rules implemented for future Presidents regarding their use of Social Media. Wife and I were talking about Barack Obama on Twitter and I couldn't think of anything that he tweeted personally while in office. There were some official WH Tweets but it was mostly just public information announcements.

I agree that it's the person, not the social media tool that's the problem but even Twitter has its limits and it's hard to believe that he hasn't violated those limits. And he's the President. There have to be different standards.

I think the sparrows on the wire, having firmly set their newly-found righteousness on Due Process, will scream it's an unfair move by Twitter unless "due process" (which applies as much irrelevance in this instance as it does elsewhere this week's issue of Martyrdom Today)
