with him resigning or being indicted/impeached, I think Pence will be an even lamer duck than Ford. Pence will be mortally wounded by association with Trump and he does not have the Trump ability to suck up all the media attention.

It is always completely void of any discussion involving what would have to happen to end up with Pence as President. As if impeachment or resignation would just be ho hum. It would be an enormous loss of clout for them. The question is posed as if Pence becomes President and nothing else happened.

Pence could never get elected on his own, and people will find out very quickly how limited and extremely uncharismatic Pence really is if he’s ever in this position. He’s a horribly stiff and unnatural public speaker (forget the one debate that Pence was coached for — he’s a terrible public speaker and dull as a door nail). He’d just be holding a space until the next election.

And yes, Trump is much worse than Pence.

I think Pence is politically worse than Trump because he really seems to believe that religious BS. And, he's more competent than Trump (a very low bar to clear!)

However, he also doesn't have that ability to fire up the base of deplorables and to also suck up all the media attention.

For all his downside, Pence has a significant amount of governmental experience, and he appears to be retaining a hold on basic sanity. I say we give him a try, the sooner the better.

Russia picked Pence for a reason, he's a Putinesque hate monger, anti-gay, die-hard conservative. That makes him another liability to Republicans, just like trump. In that sense, he is just as bad.

And if 2018 goes well, he'll have a hard time getting any of his agenda through.

I don't think he'll be impeached with Trump (Republicans will vouch for him even while they dump Trump), but there will be enough questions lingering about what he knew regarding Russia that it will haunt him in 2020, if he even runs.

He was not a religious loon like Reagan and his descendants and was socially very liberal.

At the end of the day, the investigation is in place to serve justice, not our desires.

It's not in fact, simply a mechanism to attempt administration change or give advantages to the party in power, despite the GOP having used it as such for 35 years.

That said, no one is arguing Pence will be benevolent or anything other than what he is... another member of the GOP.
