What do other DUers say
When an ass looks at you in the mist of our freezing temperatures and says "so much for global warming" do they not understand this is part of global warming?

1. I would say that the more accurate term is "climate change"
Which means extremes of weather, some places are experiencing record high temperatures and others (like where I am) are experiencing record cold. And the extremes aren't limited to temperatures, but more severe storms and flooding - as well as the droughts and terrible fires that have happened in California.

2. The earth is tilted on its axis
That is why North America can get cold during the winter but the concern is overall averages of warming increasing at an unnatural rate.

3. People who use that phrase or ask "Where's your global warming now?" have already
made up their minds and no amount of rational, factual discussion will change their opinion. Climate change deniers are similar to a cult religion.

4. The warming of the globe has melted the glaciers at the poles
eliminating some and reducing others, where those that remain are sliding closer to populated land masses, causing colder temps in winter. Those colder temps come when the Polar vortex splits up and rolls around latitudes abnormally below where it would normally reside.

8. That it is overall global records that
matter. Global warming does not mean it is never going to be winter anywhere. If they believe that, then when summer comes around and it is hot, does that mean they can believe it then?
Of course, then an ass will say: "It's called summer." |
