Masked Men Carve ‘DYKE’ INTO Lesbian Woman, Then Set House On FIRE

"..The recent home invasion and vicious attack on a lesbian woman in Lincoln, Nebraska is being described by the Human Rights Campaign as “truly horrific.” The LBGT rights organization is calling on federal authorities to investigate the alleged hate crime. CNN reported that three masked men allegedly broke into the 33-year-old woman’s home early Sunday morning, tied her up, and carved words into her arms and stomach with a knife. One of the words included the derogatory slur “dyke.”



The men also spray-painted anti-gay graffiti inside the home and set the house on fire. Police said the fire did little damage. The woman fled bound, naked and bleeding to her neighbor’s house. “I was in shock,” the woman’s neighbor told CNN. “She was naked, her hands were tied with zip ties. All I could see was a cut across her forehead and blood running down.” She was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.



“We have confidence that the Lincoln Police Department will thoroughly investigate this crime and take swift and appropriate action to bring the perpetrators to justice,” said HRC Vice President of Communications Fred Sainz. “No one should ever have to live in fear simply because of who they are. Our thoughts are with the victim and we wish her a full recovery. This act of violence is a jarring reminder that we have much work to do in creating environments where all members of our community feel safe living honestly and openly, and where crimes motivated by one’s sexual orientation or gender identity are never tolerated.”



Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which was enacted in October 2009, gives federal authorities jurisdiction over some hate crimes. Local police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident, but said they have “multiple detectives” working on the case.

The police will be able to do a little handwriting analysis on the spray painted invectives. If they find a suspect or suspects, that will help narrow down the possibilities.

Almost from the start, Pittsburgh police were skeptical about a young woman's claim that she had been mugged and a "B" carved into her cheek by an attacker who was provoked by the sight of a John McCain bumper sticker on her car.
Yesterday, their doubts were confirmed when 20-year-old Ashley Todd, a McCain volunteer from College Station, Texas, admitted that she made the whole thing up.
There was no black man with a knife, no robbery, no physical assault.
And the backwards "B" on her cheek? She's not sure, she told police, but assumes she did that herself. As for the black eyes, police assume they likewise were self-inflicted.

that was fairly 'out'. It is also a hotbed of right wing Catholicism,
farmers, and good 'ol boys.

Teena Brandon was from Lincoln, but was raped and murdered

19. I see this was kicked, so here's an update. Police have not ruled out that it was staged.

Police continue to investigate Sunday’s reported hate crime but say they haven’t ruled out the possibility that the 33-year-old woman staged the attack.

Chief Jim Peschong told the Journal Star investigators were not certain an attack took place, but he said Tuesday it was too early to tell whether the attack was a hoax. Police have no suspects, the chief said.

Capt. Jim Davidsaver said later the FBI had joined the investigation, and an agent was at the department Tuesday.(snip)

Lincoln attorney Megan Mikolajczyk told the Journal Star she was representing the woman who reported the crime, but she said her client did not wish to make a statement Tuesday evening.

“When she first told me about it, it seemed far-fetched and hard to believe,” said Dawn Thorfinnson, another friend who said she met the victim of the reported crime two months ago.

I would be much happier if she did stage it.
