At any rate, Trump is trying to consolidate his power by putting his own stooges in charge throughout the US government. That along with his ability to make Republican politicians jump when he says to jump.

Take control of the investigation or everything?

Of course they want a one-party government. They don't want to have to keep worrying about investigations and "unauthorized" document releases and opposition to their crimes and other stuff that makes them look bad.
