But she isn't named Oprah. Yes, a lot of experience in politics. She is smart, well known, and would have outstanding support from some great people. She would easily win. More easily than Oprah. And she is well liked by millions. Her name is Michelle. Her husband is also well known and respected throughout the world.
Why not? Stranger things have happened. Look around and we see some very strange things. Why not a wonderful and feel good unusual happening. President Michelle Obama...!!!!!!
What a wonderful statement for the United States to make after this horrific experience named Trump

(2,091 posts)I would welcome the sight of people who were dissing Oprah for not having legislative experience forget all the things they said about Oprah.
Michelle/Oprah sounds good to me.
The best part would be the total crash that would be visited upon Trump losing to two women, two blacks, and someone named Obama

(38,443 posts)Do you think the country would rally around her? How would Democrats and Independents think about President Michelle?

(16,124 posts)however, I doubt she would ever run. She's WAY too smart to want that job!

(297,629 posts)as a brilliant First Lady who knows how to organize people and kids for action.

(25,895 posts)she has zero interest in the job, and aside from most people being rightly wary of the Presidency being passed around within a family, and aside from her qualification for the job is rooted in having been First Lady for eight years, and . . . oh, I can't remember where I was headed with this.
But no. You can't be serious about this.

(38,443 posts)If we are serious about Oprah, then we can at least think about Michelle. Why not? The election is close to 3 years away.

(25,895 posts)The fantasy of Michelle Obama running for President has been raised here any number of times before, and it's just that. A fantasy.
Even if she got the nomination, her election would still be an uphill battle.
And yes, the election is still nearly three years away, and I just wish people would stop worrying about who the next nominee will be, buckle down and work very hard on getting as many Democrats elected as possible at all levels of government, and see who appears to be a good choice only after the mid-terms are over.

We need electoral victories and then to shove it in their faces. It's all out war. I would love to see Michelle Obama nominate Barack Obama for the SC. lol.

(5,559 posts)First lady may be extremely qualifying experience with the diplomatic aspects of the job, but there is more to it.
I'd want her to get legislative experience first, as Hillary wisely did.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)She's got plenty of experience.
Don't forget, she has a resume of her own.
That said, this is all speculative noise. I doubt she has any intent of being shit on constantly by about half the country for another 4-8 years.

1. a hyphenated word derived from the prefix 'Afro-', meaning African and the noun 'American', meaning a citizen of the United States of America.
2. used to describe an American of African descent.
3. a term which has fallen out of favor in recent years for the more politically correct two word phrase 'African American'. Possibly due to the fact that people think that the prefix 'Afro-' does not exist or is in some way derogatory. And believe the noun 'Afro', describing a popular 1970's hairstyle is the only definition available.

Listen, she said she doesn't have an interest in politics, so believe her.
please find someone else like Karmila Harris or Elizabeth Warren that is already serving.
