Who's going to their cities "Women's March" next Saturday?

It's on January 20th. I'm a Californian but am in TX for a temp. work project. I'll be attending the March here in Dallas. I private messaged all of my FB friends yesterday to encourage them to go to the ones in their areas. The responses I received were so heartening! I don't know that their is a lot of "buzz" about it. I want the crowds to be even bigger than last year because he's been more of a nightmare than I could have possibly imagined! The "powers that be" need to know we're paying attention. I think my sign will say, "Shithole in solidarity." This past week has REALLY revved me up....

I unfortunately missed last years because I was in the hospital getting heart surgery. Had to watch it from my hospital bed. But you can bet I'm going this year!

17. I saw that

I also feel that a certain subset of people think I'm enabling the patriarchy because my hair is long and I dress on the feminine side (I own dresses, skirts, and high heels).

I make pussyhats. They'be literally saved my sanity during the Trump regime. I've sold 5 since yesterday through my Etsy store and over 30 in 2018 alone. I think enough people will wear them.

47. Well, I don't wear pink so I bought a rainbow pussyhat from the DUer in this thread

And I will wear it on Saturday if I can make it to the march.

Here in Tallahassee they are not marching, just gathering at the Old Capitol Building. Since there is no parking right there, that means there will be streams of people arriving from all directions!

Last year the weather was terrible and they had 15-20,000 people show up.This year so far the forecast is good (66 F and sunny) so I hope we will have even more.

I lived on Leland Ave, right past line street. We paid $600 for a three bedroom apartment.

Julia Child was still alive and lived on the other side of line street and I saw her sometimes in the market.

I miss those days......

Once I followed her in Star Market and saw that she bought King Arthur brand flour. Another time I had to go to her house to return a kitchen utensil she’d loaned to an exhibit, but alas, instead of coming to the door she told me through the intercom to just “leave it on the stoop.”

We will think of her and so many other strong women when we gather together on the 20th.

39. Actually, it's on the Cambridge Common. You can take the commuter rail in from

Worcester to South Station and then take the Red Line to Harvard Square. That would probably be the best bet since I am sure traffic will be pretty bad. I don't drive so will take the T a few stops to Harvard. There is an Amtrak train in from VT to North Station, so that is an option as well. From there you would take the Green Line to Park Street and then Park to Harvard Square.

1-3:30 pm Parking will be insane. Might park across the Charles and walk over one of the bridges or take the train in as you suggest. Especially if it has a Back Bay stop.

56. Portland OR

is basically nothing happening. There was a link to a Bystander Intervention(no explanation) at a YWCA with limited RSVP. By the time we heard about it, it was "full"

We had 100,000 people out in the rain last year. Essentially nothing this year. I guess there is an impeachment march also occurring, but that whole thought is a dead end. He won't be impeached anytime soon, much less at the insistence of scattershot "protests".

My wife tried to get involved directly last year, but all the discussion devolved into whose voice was more important-white, black, hispanic? Any momentum gained was lost before last year's event went down. Any supposed Unity was blown out by simply not being able to get along for the benefit of all. Just arguing whose voice needed amplified more. Shame.

I realize, as whites, our plight is better than others. It's still not great and we face frustrations and shortcomings, just like any normal person. The point is we are all fighting to survive against a steady stream of hate and manipulation. We're all poor, we're all sick, we're all family. We should be helping each other instead of tearing at each other about who needs lifting up first.

I think humanity as a whole needs to be lifted up.

71. I love Ventura. An old friend of mine lives up there (I'm down in Redondo Beach)..I hope

the fires didn't effect you. I like it being called "March for Justice." That seems very appropriate...

73. We left home at 11pm with the clothes on our backs and weren't able to move back for 2 weeks...

Ventura was badly hurt; the fire came down into the city right to the back lot of City Hall. We moved here from Goleta last September, so we have connections up and down the Central Coast and have been close to fire before, but not quite so personally.

Our neighborhood was lucky, as only one house was lost despite our little valley being blackened all over. Firefighters saved us. Other neighborhoods where we looked at houses for sale last year are just gone.

Our adult kids in Santa Barbara had to evacuate as well; worse for our daughter as she had a baby just out of the NICU and was fully in the smoke at Montecito.

Rain. Ventura was lucky. We only got half an inch spread out over many hours. We were in the voluntary evac zone, and I stared at the blackened and denuded hill right across the street from us with my fingers crossed while my husband refused to budge and told me of the excellent drainage on our street.

Montecito, where our daughter lives, got a "cell" wherein the half inch came down on the kiln-forged and denuded hills in 5 minutes, and then more, and I think another "cell." Many in the voluntary evacuation zone were swept away. She lives in a rental on high ground, and was spared. But friends of hers have lost their lives and others whose houses were saved from the fire have now lost their homes. She is in a state of shock and mourning.

I showed my husband some of the FB posts from survivors' cell phones -- the wall of mud and debris came on like a tsunami, absolutely no way to escape. He said he would leave next time we get such an order, but between you and me, since we have two cars, I won't wait for his decision if he hesitates again.

Highway 101 is closed indefinitely between here and there.

74. Oh no, Hekate....

That sounds like a nightmare....I've traveled that stretch on the 101 many, many times...I'm glad that at least your neighborhood is ok. The whole thing just seems surreal.....

77. Sacramento, baby

She Who Must be Obeyed is registered, I'm not. I'm just the driver and general flunky that knows the area well. I'm thinking Governor Brown and I will be standing in solidarity toward the back, taking it all in.
