Collins, who Trump notably retained as NIH director last year even as he replaced most other Obama appointees...
Why?
Starting this spring, Americans across the country will be invited to contribute to a massive new pool of genomic information being assembled by the government...
This program that Collins is pursuing sounds like a great idea and probably is, but considering Trump's obsessions, I can't help wondering how he sees it. What is it about collecting gene data from the population that appeals to Trump?
Volunteers wont be study subjects; theyll be partners, (Collins) stresses. He has found that to be one of the strongest arguments in attracting participants.
Sounds good, right?
Of course, we cant guarantee anybody that privacy is going to be absolutely protected no matter what, because weve all seen situations where hacking can happen, Collins said.
Hacking? What about outright turning the data over to Trump for his own purposes?
Sounds far-fetched, I know, but I'm just an animated towel from a cartoon show and don't have to worry too much about sharing crazy ideas.
