It good to know there is no dementia but what about other mental and psychiatric problems?
Does the test tell us anything about the character of Donald Trump?
The tests do not resolve the abnormal behavior and actions of Donald Trump.
The tests have little to do with the behaviors that concern the America people.

(16,799 posts)Its a brief exam that assesses general cognitive function, but it lacks sensitivity to subtle cognitive decline, according to Dr. David Knopman, chairman of the Alzheimers Association Medical and Scientific Advisory Council and a professor of neurology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Knopman called the test reliable and valid, noting that its been around about 10 years, but said it doesnt tell us everything.
Because its a brief examination, it is not considered a definitive assessment of cognitive function, Knopman told HuffPost. More detailed neuropsychological testing should be performed if there are suspicions that a person has cognitive dysfunction despite their store on the MoCA.

(37,613 posts)isn't "subtle cognitive decline."
"It doesn't show subtle cognitive decline" is being taken to mean "it overlooks moderate to moderately-severe dementia".
There are ways of testing for various kinds of dementia years before the first symptoms become obvious, but they're complicated, not always accurate, and, again, test for dementia years before the first symptoms become obvious. In other words, they help explain some small, almost trivial changes. Not the huge deviances from acceptability with Trump.

(14,070 posts)I take my Mom to a neurologist for her dementia and the tests they give her wouldn't show any kind of psychiatric problem, she suffers from depression and also sees a psychiatrist for that (as do I).
