If you missed VICE News Tonight you did yourself a disservice
Tonight's installment of the HBO show was a look back at Trump's first year in office. It wasn't flattering.
Most telling was a Frank Luntz focus group in Philadelphia that matched well with the widely shared one he had in Birmingham, Alabama ahead of the special senatorial election just over a month ago. The room of Trump voters displayed much of the same cultish behavior and groupthink. They admitted their slavish devotion to FOX News. They lashed out bitterly at the two members who found fault in the current POTUS.
Luntz also got them to hint at their omnipresent racial lens without them understanding what was said.
More telling was what Luntz said afterward to the reporter. The pollster who has been a foot soldier and manipulator for the GOP for years said he sees Trump poisoning our political system in a way he is afraid we cannot fix. He also said there's a strong chance the House and Senate will flip Democratic in 2018 and Trump has absolutely no idea what he will face when that happens.
