1) Dems?
2) GOP?

My bet is on 2 or 3!

(10,029 posts)None of this had to happen.
I am hoping for permanent CHIP and extended DACA (over 5 years). It is obvious this administration and the GOP has/had no plan to replace DACA with anything better and it is too complex of an issue to expect to fix overnight (like the healthcare repeal fiasco).

(6,377 posts)The shutdown doesn't look good on either party initially. But as time goes on, it'll look increasingly worse and worse for Republicans because they control every arm of the government. At some point, they'll have to pull the trigger and create a compromise.

(7,320 posts)The public will turn on the Dems. They may support DACA, but not enough to shut the government down.

(14,308 posts)Dems agree to a short term CR and make it clear this is the last one.
If DACA isn't agreed to during the CR period, they won't agree anymore.
That would produce pressure for the Reps to make the DACA deal or the Reps would be to blame since they were warned.
That's my prediction.
