...There Is Nobody For Any Team In The NFL That Wouldn't Love
Tom To Be Their QB,
Don't Hate Him Because Your Team
Doesn't Have Him.

(38,013 posts)Exceptional I might add. But many don't like him or his coach and I don't think it has much to do about politics.

Nobody.

(24,722 posts)He's a whiner, cheater and a Dotard voter. And, kind of a shitty person. He's a hell of a QB but I can't get past the other stuff. I get your excitement tonight, however. Good luck in the Super Bowl!
Sorry... This is a personal favorite in our house:

And screw the Patriots. Shithole organization from top to bottom. Winning ain't everything.

(15,064 posts)Hell with the rest of the Deplorables. I have no more respect for him than any other Nazi athlete who supported Hitler during the 1936 Olympics. Being a handsome football hero does not make him a god in any way shape or form. If he is blind enough to ignore the the very soldiers in my family any any other family who died fighting fascism then I am blind to his accomplishments. And I'd rather be blind than see that jerk succeed at anything.

(24,808 posts)are tossing the ball 30 yeards downfield, having your receiver stay as close to the defender as possible and making sure the defender makes contact with you so the refs will call pass interference (even when the ball was uncatchable) and the two yard dump-off pass.
Oh, and cheating.
roscoeroscoe
(1,825 posts)Exactly how that happened.

Arguably, though, our "biggest play" was stopping Fournette so many times...

(13,960 posts)He and his coach cheated so wantonly that the NFL became compromised. If you want to cheer him and Bill on, take a look at Basball back when it was a contest between New York and Boston to see who could buy the world series, or the NBA now that it has become the "Lebron james whines about losing to the Golden State warriors again" show.
LenaBaby61
(6,991 posts)Brady endorsed a guy who literally doesn't give 2 shits about whether he KILLS others by taking their health care away for starters. Let that sink in.
Secondly, he and coach are cheaters, Kraft is besties with fatso-in-chief, and the zebras are mostly in their pockets. Thirdly, while he is a very good QB (I saw him when he was at Michigan), I don't think he's the GOAT--not given how soft the league has become the last decade or so (I don't see any Steel Curtain-type Defenses out there anywhere, and I surely don't see any dominant teams anywhere like there were years back), and given the fact that the rules have changed to stop almost all physical contact when it comes to HIM. That whole organization, minus several of the players who spoke out LOUDLY against fatso-in-chief and who didn't go to putin's white house to kiss his fat ASS can go take a flying leap.
I thought the Oakland Raiders organization was bad back in the days of stickum and when Dave Casper did this:
That "niche" these Brady-lead Pats has carved out where they are allowed to play by different rules is political and blatant.

mythology
(9,527 posts)He not only helped sell snake oil that he claimed cured concussions, he also defended selling snake oil that claimed to cure cancer, Parkinson's disease, MS and AIDS. Because selling millions of dollars of that crap means more in Tom Brady's mind than killing people by preventing them from getting real medicine. Tom Brady shouldn't be playing football, he should be in jail.
That's above the fact that he cheats, his head coach cheats and his offensive coordinator cheats.
Would I want Tom Brady on my team? Hell no. But I have actual moral standards that get in the way of "winning" at all costs. Brady is as much of a fraud as Lance Armstrong and Rosie Ruiz.

(44,498 posts)Joe Flacco isnt quite at Bradys level but he did win us one Super Bowl, multiple playoff games and has only one losing season in his entire career.
For all I know he could have voted for Trump too but gladly hadnt flaunted it.
And unlike Tom Brady, hes not a smug douchebag whose face you want to punch, even if he is a great quarterback.
And the Mile High Miracle in the playoff game against Denver still is the single greatest sports moment Ive ever watched live.
So no, I wouldnt trade Joe Flacco for Tom Brady. Go ahead and mock me but thats my honest opinion.
Now, Aaron Rogers on the other hand...

(6,499 posts)and the bulk of members posting in it where basically acting like conservatives in trashing the players across the board and fans of the team, which comes from heavily blue states that voted overwhelmingly for Hillary. Basically, when you're told that you're just as bad as a trump voter because you're a fan of the team, it'll cause a reaction.
Which brings us back to the heavy tribalism of the days and the binary nature of everything; it's either good or it's bad. No nuance, no grey.

(101,852 posts)But that was before so many of them including Brady skipped the White House meeting.
Blue_Adept
(6,499 posts)But when it devolves to all the fans being aligned as trump supporters because they support the team it just shows how far off the rails its getting for Democrats as well. There's a lot of hate going all around these days and it's going to eat us up just like it ate up conservatives for many years to where they are now.

(2,120 posts)... there are some very holier-than-thou killjoys present in any given forum like this, I guess. Football is football and politics is politics. I keep them separate. I live in New England and we are Patriots fans.
It's one thing for angry football fans of other teams to complain and gripe about Brady and the Patriots because they're simply jealous of their success - the more they go on about "Cheatriots" and deflating the ball and blah blah blah the more the sour grapes is evident.
It's absurd, however, for people to loathe and root against the Patriots because Kraft/Brady voted for Trump. One of my close friends is a Trump support and he came to my house to help me fix my generator a couple of weeks ago. I guess based on their mindset I should not only have refused his help but ended our friendship over politics. Not gonna happen.
To the haters from either camp I will simply say this: "You weren't present in Superbowl 51 when I woke my little 9 year old boy up to see the Patriots score one of the most surprising Superbowl wins in history. You can call Brady a 'smug douchebag' or Kraft a 'Trump fan' all you like, but you didn't see the look on my son's face when his favorite team won that game. That was one of my most favorite moments as a Dad; sharing that with him."
