(37,848 posts)During my daily involuntary exposure to Faux & Frauds yesterday morning the scroll said it was the first of the year. An outright lie. Why am I not surprised.
(Note: My daily exposure to Faux is due to my life here in Trumptopia. It is impossible for me to go through my daily routine without a Faux sighting. I've tried. Dystopian stories have their "Big Brother", we have Faux. )

(7,052 posts)rare occasions when I catch even a few minutes (every two or three years, maybe) I am simply amazed. It is drivel combined with talk overs. Reminds me of when we would watch Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker for entertainment because they were so outrageous it was as if they were from Mars. And now Faux is a daily diet of millions.

(12,217 posts)The shooter, or all the victims being white, for example? The only one recent enough to still reside in their tiny, tiny collective forebrain?

(37,848 posts)I'm sure if someone were to call them on it, they would reveal some fine point which went unstated in the bumper stickers they call reporting.
Like "The first shooting this year in KY" or "The first shooting in an Eastern State". Total nonsense and hair splitting.
But, the effect they are seeking is pure misinformation and propaganda. Designed to mislead viewers and create a desired narrative, instead of informing of events.
These are exactly the type of shenanigans which are addressed in the oath, "I swear to tell the Truth, the whole Truth, and nothing, but, the Truth".
Now, I realize Faux has had themselves declared as "Entertainment". However, I find nothing entertaining about their representation of the facts.

(53,179 posts)There have been about 50 school shootings in the U.S. this academic year (some were suicides, and some resulted in no injuries), and about one shooting a week since 2013, the Times says. "We have absolutely become numb to these kinds of shootings, and I think that will continue," Katherine W. Schweit, a former senior FBI official, tells the Times. She coauthored an FBI study of 160 active-shooter situations between 2000 and 2013, and a quarter of them were in educational settings, the number growing as the study went on. You can read more about how schools and states are responding at The New York Times. Peter Weber

"Then never mind. Let's go golfing."

(40,915 posts)Why is Trump 'allowing' violence done to our students?
When Trump accepted the GOP nomination:
"I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end," he said. "Beginning on January 20th, 2017, safety will be restored."

(31,348 posts)As a high school teacher, I fear the copycat crimes following a shooting that is highly publicized. The more the kids hear about school shootings, the more some think of it as an option. If life gets too awful, go shoot up the school.
