Suspect that Wray found something in memo

That was actionable against McCabe.

Could be nefarious on a Wray’s part, or McCabe’s part or simply misleading enough to cause the FBI headaches.

(On edit Since some people can’t suss out these several options here they are in detail)

I’ll clarify the options for your benefit

1) It’s possible Wray is a bad actor.
2) It’s possible McCabe is a bad actor. If so it’s probably a paper handling level error but one the Rs can demogogue. Have to acknowledge the possibility
3) It’s also possible that entirely disingenuous allegations are more trouble than its worth for the FBI.

Which one is bullshit?

I’m aware the memo is a McGuffin. That doesn’t mean the material in it wouldn’t embarrass the FBI. Sometimes you sacrifice a pawn.

All it has to be to embarrass the FBI is some evidence that McCabe approved a couple of actions or was involved in approving them. Then you have to defend McCabe for the next two months against foolishness.

This takes him off the board.

"Fire him or we go after you next. What do we have on you? Nothing. That doesn't mean we won't make shit up and give it to Hannity to scream about for a month. And remember, the big turd in the White House? Sure, he appointed you, but you and your whole agency are his enemy now.... You want your reputation intact? Fire McCabe and let everyone else there know-- we got your balls. We're ruthless and we don't care about truth and we sure don't care about justice."

Well, that's maybe too articulate for Nunes.

But let's not pretend there's much need for Nunes/Trump to have anything real. Trump has minions who will slavishly avow every day over and over that the FBI is riddled with liberal commies.

We've seen it before. There's a name for it= McCarthyism.

And Wray's no Eliot Richardson (the one who refused to fire Cox). He's not even Jim Comey. He caved. And heck, maybe he can tell himself he did it to spare McCabe. That might even be true.

It doesn't follow, however, that there's anything in the memos that is 1) true, and 2) indicting of McCabe.
Nunes just wants us to think so, but remember, he was the one who wanted us to think he cloak-and-daggered intel to the White House that they actually gave to him.

To believe this, you have to accept Trumpy's vision of the FBI being a partisan aggressor aligned against him.

The Dustbin Nunes memo is made-up crap, based on distortions of info already known to DOJ. Wray wouldn't "find" anything in it except evidence that Nunes is obstructing justice.

This happens all the time. Reporters really should be required to do a tour in the military or Civil Service before they start writing breathless crap like this.

I retired from the Navy in May of 2013 after 30 years. Because of the leave I had accumulated over the years, my last day on active duty was in January 2013.

It's called "Terminal Leave"

27. Wray would KNOw what was in memo
Mon Jan 29, 2018, 04:36 PM
Jan 2018

That doesn't make sense. Wray already would know whatever shite's in the memo, because, duh, it's supposed to be classified material from the FBI and DOJ. (Remember, Nunes went to a secure room in the DOJ to read it.)

So there won't be anything nefarious in there that Wray doesn't know.

Much more likely is... Wray went there to read the memo to see what classified info Nunes put in there. While he was there, Nunes berated him, telling him that they'll release classified info, keep up the rumors about McCabe and all the other FBI agents, keep abusing them, haul them to the committee for some Benghazi treatment. "Or you can make McCabe quit. Your choice."

Wray gave into the hostage-takers.

Already Donnie Jr. is spinning this in a way to even more slander a good dedicated public servant. Let's not jump into that vat of idiotic bile. There's no way out for McCabe. He's a good man who is being stabbed by bad men. He should get out while he can.

And, btw, he has probably been in touch with Comey, and knows that once retired, he can talk more freely. They can't fire him twice.

Rule of thumb-- if Donnie Jr says it, say the opposite. Whatever he says is stupid and false.

I envision McCabe doing that.
