CO wounded "will be struggling with these hospital bills for the rest of their lives"

First the very good and somehow, for me at least, healing news:

Hugo Jackson Medley was born at 7:11 a.m. local time on Tuesday, according to University of Colorado Hospital spokesman Dan Weaver. Both mother and child are doing well.
His mother, Katie Medley, escaped the Colorado movie theater attack uninjured...

Welcome, little baby.

Sadly, the new father lays in a medically induced coma with severe injuries. And then there's this:

Like many of the young 20-somethings at the movies that terrible night, the Medleys have no health insurance, according to their friend West.

“Caleb and his family have no insurance, and these hospital bills are going to be well into the hundreds if not thousands if not millions. Caleb and Katie will be struggling with these hospital bills for the rest of their lives,” West wrote on the website.

3. It's a good thing that we got health-insurance reform. Too bad we didn't get medical reform.

Why not take some of the billions from the billionaires and build medical schools?

4. They won't.

They are getting the care they need. Those who don't have health insurance (and we don't know who does and who doesn't) will have bills beyond what can be paid. So they won't pay them. The hospitals will not try and collect because they would get a big PR blowback. So they will write them off.

5. What were these people doing wasting money on a movie when they have no insurance?

Good thing the private mandate is coming to ensure that these people don't act so foolishly in the future with their money..

I bet they even have air conditioning, microwaves and flat screen televisions at home..
