Theyre willing to call dump out for what he is.

(42,031 posts)He sees Trump has a clear and present danger. Schmitt is just outraged at this horror. It shows us that republicans are not all dreadful people. Steve Schmitt is a good man.

(14,681 posts)He has seen the light. If he hates/fears Trump and will vote against him in 2020 he is a Democratic.

(129,736 posts)that when Trump reads from a teleprompter it's not the real Trump, and tomorrow he'll go back to his "normal" self. He thought Trump would be more authentic if he just ad-libbed, and Nicole Wallace laughed and said if he did that he'd be immediately indicted.

(49,121 posts)We have a lot more in common with Schmidt and Wallace than some in our own party. For lots of good reasons. I feel there's a class of Dems who are just coasting along (just some, not all) and then we have a new guard like Kennedy and Harris and Booker who just ooze energy and ideas. Y'know it's time to pass the torch.

(5,210 posts)She strikes me as a little flighty tonight, but she has excellent insight and Schmidt is just brilliant, with great vision, integrity and wisdom.

(54,770 posts)because he was a loyal GOPer for so many years. He makes one hopeful that a small, but large enough, group of GOPers can see what is happening to our country and want that to change.

(79 posts)So they supported the Iraq war, gitmo remaining open, deregulation that led to the financial crisis, mass surveillance, torture etc presumably yeah? At least they aided an administration that did.
Amazing how Trump has moved the Overton window so far to the right that these people and senators like Bob Corker and John McCain are our new friends.

(36,594 posts)I dont hear many Democratic Congress people condemning dump in the strong terms they are. Im well aware of what they supported in the past. At least when democracy hangs in the balance theyre on the right side. Not many of their ilk are.

(17,335 posts)with Schmidt. She said that in their former jobs, they'd have watched Kennedy's speech very closely to get a read on the opposition. She said, "I counted x "we"s, x "you"s and 0 "I"s." That would've signaled to her that he was a "formidable" opponent. I found that bit of inside baseball really interesting and informative.

(63,984 posts)fill in the latest RW slur. What used to be the Center/Right wing of the Repub party is presented by many in the press as "Centrist" now.
The country is badly in need of a decided lurch to the left.
