I heard someone repeatedly refer to Ivanka as "Mrs. Trump" on NPR, this morning

I was driving and didn't catch the guy's name, but this happened twice, that I heard. They were discussing family medical leave.

Should it be "Mrs." if she kept her maiden name? Rorey Feb 2018 #3
Ms Trump or Mrs Kushner. Or how about just Ivanka. Siwsan Feb 2018 #5
You're right Ms would have been more appropriate Farmer-Rick Feb 2018 #10

I would just mention any Trump women with their first and last name to avoid confusion. northoftheborder Feb 2018 #6

It was part of the brand she was selling. I bet the other 3 Mrs. Trumps don't appreciate it.

It seems odd, but I guess people can call themselves whatever they want. "Ms." seems more appropriate to me.

That's how most people know her.

My wife never changed her name and she goes by Ms sometimes. Sometimes my better half just lets them call her Mrs. Farmer-Rick. As long as she knows folks aren't trying to be ignorant.

I guess he was trying to be what he thought was proper and respectful, but Ms Trump fits that, just fine.

It's probably up to her. The interviewer may have knowledge of her preference. Hard to know.

Referring to her as 'Mrs Trump' is never proper. She's not really his wife.

Not sure which ones you'll find authoritative. I'm curious what the AP style book says about it. But several say that a married woman is "entitled" to the title Mrs. Divorced women as well if they don't change their name.

Not in western culture, anyway. And, admittedly, it just sounds extra creepy in this situation.

It's creepy on so many levels. Especially considering Donald's behavior wrt women in general.
