Nancy Pelosi is in her 40-something minute of speaking, reading bible verses, reading letters from Dreamers, and so on. Her point is, she will allow no budget vote until Ryan agrees to bring a DACA vote to the floor.

She always reminds me of my Grandma. She and my Grandma look like identical twins and the same personalities. If my Grandma wasn't a CEO wife she would have been a kick-ass politician.

I'm getting about as much traction as you. Is it the issue or our speaker-in-waiting that generates this stampede of responses?

(58,785 posts)It's mainly the right-wing's professional swiftboaters, of course, plus other divisive forces. This forum is a gathering place for some of those latter, so of course it gets the treatment.
What works for conservatives works on others too, and many have been taking in poison messages wrapped around the name Pelosi for a long time now.
GO, DEMOCRATS!

(32,988 posts)some guy started talking about how Nancy has to go. I told him and the rest of the group that, as we were leaving our house, Nancy was into two plus hours of talking. Another lady spoke up and told us how she used to be a conservative Republican. She went to meetings where they spent a lot of time talking about how they needed to get rid of Nancy. She was enemy number one. I put the guy on the spot and asked him where he was getting the right wing talking points.
The right wingers in my state want to get rid of Mike Madigan, too. He is the leader of our party in Illinois, and he runs a very disciplined organization. The repiggies are poisoning minds against him from within and without the party. We need to take care that our so-called progressive wing of the party is not taken in by any of this. They need to examine what they are saying and why they are saying it. We need to look at who is saying critical things about our leadership!
We should not let anything divide us at this point in our history. We stand a good chance of defeating 45 and company if we stay united, whether we are moderate, center, or leftist Democrats.

(97,622 posts)I am very well aware of what they are doing. BTW, did you see that fierce attack of donnie by Senator Duckworth? That woman was on fire in her take down of that worm of a man...yet "Democrats don't do enough." Sigh.
I'll give kudos to both Pelosi and Duckworth...they persisted.
Yet get to little credit for doing so.

(5,103 posts)of what dump said. But the US population's average attention span is tiny which is why I'm worried the shameless bastards could be successful in pinning this on the dems and it could hurt us in November.

(37,748 posts)They can pin anything on the Democrats, and it would hurt chances in Nov.
Obama used Dijon mustard, the GOP used it against the Democrats. Obama wore a tan suit, the GOP used it against the Democrats. Clinton campaigned when she had the flu, the GOP used it against the Democrats.
Why do you think this instance is any different from the benign existence of mere mustard, a simple and sleek tan suit, or the fortitude of working through the flu? And what specifically do you think the GOP is unable to use against the Democrats?
awesomerwb1
(5,103 posts)Surely you can see there is a massive difference between Dijon mustard and a government shut down?
