By Allegra Kirkland | February 9, 2018 6:00 am
Speculation about when and under what terms President Donald Trump might be interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller has dominated the headlines ever since the two parties began talks in December. But what about Vice President Mike Pence?
Pence was absent from many of the key incidents Mueller is reportedly investigating as part of his sprawling probe into Russias interference in the 2016 election. But he was intimately involved with several, including the firing of former FBI director James Comey, and the subsequent efforts to settle on a rationale for that firing, which appear to be at the center of the Mueller investigation.
So its puzzling that Mueller appears to have made no attempt to talk to the administrations second-highest-ranking official. Pences lawyer met with Mueller last year to offer Pences full cooperation.
Its a bit of a mystery to me that Pences name hasnt really surfaced at all, Michael Zeldin, a former federal prosecutor who worked closely with Mueller in the Justice Departments criminal division, told TPM. There are things that Pence seems to be relevant to. So Im surprised.

(26,507 posts)in the grand plan. It's all been pre-programmed by the Repugs. They just need to get a few more thing out of their useful idiot Trump - before they dump on him and drum him out of the corps or is it coup?

(41,013 posts)they will dump Trump & put in Pence. Tillerson's comment (in a Fox news interview) on Russian meddling was pathetic.
The point is, if it's their intention to interfere, they are going to find ways to do that," he told Fox News. "We can take steps, but this is something that, once they decide they are going to do it, it's very difficult to pre-empt it.
I guess the exceptional USA can no longer build a better mousetrap.
His lack of motivation to secure our electoral process is stunning.
