A new Deputy AG could severely limit the scope of Mueller's probe, while muddying the waters enough that most Republicans won't abandon Trump, as they might if he straight out fires Mueller.

13. The moment Trump fires Rosenstein, all hell will break loose

Before Rosenstein's successor is able to scuttle the investigation, Mueller will unseal current indictments and drop dozens upon dozens of new ones. The FBI will leak incriminating documents and audiotapes of crimes being committed.

The IC is waiting for the final act of obstruction before it unleashes its torrent of ruinous evidence.

That's when the American people will have to make a decision: are we ready to stick a fork in our democracy forever, or will we regain control of our country and force the "governing" minority to its knees?
