Who would have thunk (sp) a Republican president would declare war on the FBI and we Democrats would be there to defend them ?

(26,525 posts)how much pols and our leaders actually rely on these polls for policy decisions and political moves!

(11,885 posts)More and more people are turning on him and the Republican party, and why not. Look at what they are doing, and the people they accept into their party, and the lying is unbelievable. Now he wants badly to start a war. He'll lose that too.

(17,984 posts)His base was supposedly around 35%. This poll shows only 24% side with him. What this tells me is that attacking our intelligence actually lost him some support.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)if this poll is indicative it'd seem to suggest the rest of his base is melting away on this issue.
As I recall, W's support seldom dropped below mid-30s and always rose back up until the very end.
Don't remember it dropping below about this 24%, though, no matter what he did, until the very last weeks of his 8th year when his hard-core True Followers realized their Leader was a dud who wasn't magically going to turn losing into winning for them. My recall is tanking somewhere around 12-15%.

It is imperative that the Dem Memo get out before that can happen.
Our Republic may actually depend on it.

scheming daemons
(25,487 posts)...we won't be able to take congress.
He is trying to create his own police force, to use as a bludgeon against any that oppose him.
Releasing the Dem Memo would possibly create enough public outrage to force the CURRENT congress to keep him in check. To make it impossible for him to fire Rosenstein.

It might take longer to put him there that way, but one way or another this treasonous asshole WILL die in prison.

(25,487 posts)...because good people, Rachel Brand the latest, are being systematically removed from the FBI/DOJ.
He is remaking them into his own personal police force.
The polls are immaterial. Rosenstein will be removed soon. Wray will follow. Mueller will be removed or have the oxygen cut off to his investigation.
You think the "polls" matter in this? The public could be 99% for the FBI over Trump and it wouldn't matter.
Trump is fighting this war on the REAL battlefield, and you're worried about "polls".
The Demo Memo needs to be released to the public... either by leak or other means.... as soon as possible.
The cover up is working. By 2020, Trump will be able to use his remade FBI to go after any and all opponents in the election... take them down one by one. Making himself a dictator.
Fuck the polls. Dems need to go nuclear. Release the Dem Memo.
DemocratSinceBirth
(101,938 posts)Our only check on Trump is electing a Democratic congress.

(25,487 posts)1. Releasing the memo will make it very hard for a lot of GOP congressmen to go along with ending the Mueller investigation. Right now, they can use the Nunes memo as justification. The Dem memo blows away their cover.
2. It engages the public even more.... making it harder to gaslight voters.... making a Dem congress in November more likely.
3. It exposes the cover up. Making Nunes *NEXT* memos... starting with the one he will release on State Dept... non-starters. Right now, his memo is the only one on the record, and can twist the narrative in Trump's favor.
There is a reason Trump is blocking it.... because he knows its release will hurt him. Which is why getting it out there any way possible is a good result.
DemocratSinceBirth
(101,938 posts)We either vote him out or we are ruined. Releasing a memo won't be undoing.
He has committed one aberrant act after another. Either the voters care and vote out his enablers or they don't.
scheming daemons
(25,487 posts)You're naive.
We have to pull out *ALL* the stops to stop him right now.
Releasing the Dem Memo is just one.... but any and all cards we have to play have to be played *RIGHT* now.
A week from now, there might be no Mueller investigation. To the extent the Dem Memo release can slow down the FBI purge...and I think it can.... it has to be used.
By November, the FBI will be investigating *EVERY* Democratic challenger in a tight race....anyone who can threaten Trump.... in order to tilt the elections. The voting machines will *NOT* be protected, as Trump will have his FBI/DOJ look the other way.
We won't have a Republic by November if we don't do everything to stop him *NOW*.

They're all jumping ship. It's pretty hot close to the W.H. I would have thought people in high level positions like that are made of sterner stuff than leaving after 9 months. I mean, she KNEW Trump was President and what he was like before she took the job.

Sir Thomas More: Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?
William Roper: Yes, I'd cut down every law in England to do that!
Sir Thomas More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned 'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man's laws, not God's! And if you cut them down, and you're just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!

(13,292 posts)Belief in the rule of law is not a partisan issue. When you don't like the law (e.g., the lack of voter rights protections) you convince enough people you're right and you change the law.
The GOP belief is that if you're not getting your way under the current rules and traditions, you change or abolish the rules and ignore the traditions.

(25,111 posts)two. I think, thru the GOPs in congress, RW bullshit media, and his lawyers, they will paint the FBI/DOJ as unlawfully trying to take t-rump down.
Firing the two would be a short delay, but it would never ever die, ever. The cloud would there.
