https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/2/10/1740368/-Politico-Susan-Collins-explodes-at-broken-promise-to-hold-vote-on-guaranteeing-health-insurer-pay??detail=emaildkreAccording to Politico, Susan Collins is shocked to discover that the White House has broken a promise to her.
The White House had promised Collins, a moderate, that it would seek a vote before recess on guaranteeing payments to health insurers in order to stabilize Obamacare markets, a key issue for her. But under intense opposition from pro-life groups and from House conservatives, no such vote materialized.
Collins berated Short for reneging on the deal and then walked off after Short tried to explain, according to two people familiar with the exchange.
I was disappointed the deadline slipped, Collins told POLITICO in an interview.

Collins is an absolute idiot.

(40,270 posts)Time to fish or cut bait, Susan.
It's gonna take more than empty words of alleged "indignation" (followed by near-certain capitulation), Senator.
Prove you have actual integrity and grit, Senator: flip your Senate seat.
I think she is probably of more use as a foil to her more idiotic teabagger colleagues.
She's of no effing use at all, except as window dressing for the pukes. An enabler.
If she wants to be of actual by dawg use she can switch caucuses... Iirc that could change committee chairmanships, which would be helpful.

Asshats like McConnell and Ryan are bad enough, but at least they have the decency to advertise their dickishness. With them, we know exactly what we're dealing with.
You, on the other hand, are a "special kind of evil". You've spent your entire life hood-winking people into thinking you're something you're not...

(38,726 posts)Let's say in the next few days, Collins and Flake switch to the Democratic party. Today is Monday..so the switch is in the next 4 or 5 days. Schumer becomes the majority leader in the senate.
Revenge will be sweat if that is what she wants. Maybe some other moderate republicans will switch. If she wants to show them who the boss is, and that keeping your word is that important, that is what she needs to do. She has to get one more republican senator to switch. The two of switchers will kick Trump and McConnell in the balls, in ways that no one could have possibly imagined.
Then and only then, will they learn that you keep your word..If that is the real problem
If she is really mad, that is what is going to happen. This is about stabilizing Obamacare markets. And also keeping affordable health insurance available to all, and saving lives as a result
If Collins cares about "saving lives" she will switch, and she will switch with someone else. That is the only solution if she was promised, and they lied on that promise....Trump and McConnell will never forget this...never...McConnell being demoted would be incredible..!!!!!!!!!
