He asked the president of American teachers Federation Randi Weingarten if teachers were sufficiently train for these shooting incidents? Soldiers are sufficiently trained and they still die in combat. Teachers are trained to teach. They should be made aware and have drills but to train them for gun violence? It is the guns. It is the guns. It is the guns. It is the guns. It is a guns. We need gun legislation now!

*No offense to teachers as such -- it's just that we're talking about very large population, which will inevitably contain some people with major problems.

(11,102 posts)Teachers trained and PAID a stipend to carry concealed weapons to stop shooters. It is a sick solution at best, coming from a sick individual pushing a sick and disgusting agenda.
As you note, teachers ARE trained: to teach.
I personally think Smerconish is a prime example of enablement by what about-ism. He spins it as is he is just open to all views, but it comes across -to me- as sensationalistic. Case in point: this story. "Is the problem that teachers aren't trained properly to fight against shooters? - soldiers are. You decide."
F him.

(7,257 posts)Training didnt stop killing of 3 teachers/staff and 14 students. No doubt lives were saved, students spoke of a janitor who redirected them and teachers who directed them. Some said the teachers and staff were so calm it made them think it was a drill.
But 17 people still died. The attack was overwhelming - no training could prepare them for that.
I wish Randi had said this.
