My brother lost half his hair in high school. He gave up and shaved it off when he went to college. He, like most young men who go bald, was not happy about it. But it felt better to shave it and get it over with than to spend another five years fighting the inevitable.

A psychologist wrote that when men in their teens and early twenties lose their hair, it has the impact of amputation. Something to think about next time you're tempted to mock someone who isn't as lucky as you must be.
