Last edited Sun Feb 18, 2018, 01:01 PM - Edit history (1)

were the draw for his rallies?

Couldn’t Bernie’s ideas combined with the ideas behind the women’s March be the Dem message for 2018?

I think so

We need the rallies and women’s Marches to continue all year right up to November

On edit: This isn’t about women vs white men! Keep that to yourself!

This is about keeping our ideals such as universal health care, income inequality, student loans, women’s equality, sexual abuse, jobs, infrastructure etc. before the electorate. The Trump stories take all the air out of the room.

Keep taking to the streets all yesr

His message on income inequality was powerful, however, there were also other factors in play.

behind the march movement has all been driven by women, and women - especially those of color - represent the strong activist base of our party. I’m happy to refer to it as the Women’s March.

Bernie managed to shit all over that.

The women's marches will continue as a women's movement.

And the Democrats will be just fine without Bernie's attacks on the "absolute failure" that he thinks the Democratic party is.

A true leader is one who has vision for the where he or she wants to go, and the ability to inspire others to follow. I think that's where Bernie fits. He was able to get people to come to his rallies because he delivers his message without equivocating.

To answer your question, you need to find someone with those ideals (health care, women's equality, etc) who has the ability to deliver the message forcefully, unapologetically, and charismatically.

His candidacy had communications issues with some(mainly older and more conservative)women, and people of color, but it was obvious that the draw was the positive message of change in what the campaign was talking about.

The man could be off-putting, I concede-he probably sounded to older feminists like every early Seventies Left Dude who told them to shut up at a meeting(although in his rallies he never shut up anyone), he could and can be stubborn, he did not listen until too late to those who called on him to address race, gender and identity, and i say that as ONE of the people who begged him on these pages-it was almost impossible for a long time to communicate with the national campaign office. He probably also was the progressive version of the guy who reminds every woman of her FIRST husband.

But the ideas were nothing but good. The encouragement of people to believe that what they wanted to happen was both worth fighting for and achievable. It was a campaign that said to everyone involved in it, 'YOU can make a difference".

That is the part I want us to embrace as a party...not Bernie as nominee, but the sense of possibility and idealism that his campaign possessed, the sense that the limits of the possible can be expanded.
