Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Caraway Monday urged the NRA to find a new home for its annual meeting in May

Caraway said that the NRA event, scheduled for May 3-6 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, is inappropriate for Dallas after the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., last week. The NRA's meeting will include firearms displays and exhibits, and the group's national elected officials will participate in leadership meetings. According to the website, ammunition sales are permitted, but on-site firearm sales are not.

In a written statement, Caraway said that it's "time to put the heat on the NRA." He followed up his written comments with a news conference outside City Hall in which he decried high-powered civilian-owned weapons and gun violence in Dallas, referencing both the 1963 Kennedy assassination and the July 7, 2016, ambush on police.

I sure hope we can keep these assholes out of here. I'm going to contact my councilman and see what can be done.

Any politician who makes them welcome should be on notice. It is time to stop normalizing the NRA. They are a terrorist organization.

And that should tell you everything you need to know about what they ACTUALLY believe in. Money and Power and the guns are just the Shiny used to separate the rubes from their monies.

Are you 100% sure?

Because that would make their headquarters a very "unsafe" location.

The guy tried to shot up the entire congregation, killing adults and children while hunting for his in-laws. We know that women are most vulnerable when they finally decide to leave their crazy spouse, but who knew that your parents aren't even safe in a church.

1966 Texas Tower Massacre

That may be the one mass shooting the NRA could exploit for the sale of guns. Ordinary citizens kept Whitman partially penned down while cops made their way to the top floor to get him. I believe deer rifles and shotguns were used by the citizens that day. Not quite the same as AR-15s.

The NRA should hold their convention at Mar-a-Lago. Plenty of Russians, lots of cash, and Geraldo Rivera for a 3-minute commercial on arming school janitors with AR-15s.

The cost of the security, possible violence. Still, that's a big gig to turn away.

Which is making some city officials leery about doing it as it's apparently still in a lawsuit when they banned the Exxxotica convention.

We'll see what happens. Stay tuned.
