The store that sold the AR-15 used to kill 17 in Parkland has closed

The Florida gun shop that sold the AR-15 assault weapon used to kill 17 people in a Parkland high school last week has shut its doors.

The owners of Sunrise Tactical Supply, the Coral Springs shop that authorities said in November sold suspected shooter Nikolas Cruz the AR-15, has been ‘‘closed indefinitely,’’ according to the Miami Herald. Cruz was arrested after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which also left 14 people wounded.

The owners of the small business, located in a strip mall near the school, said they ensured that Cruz had filled out all of the required paperwork which included his driver’s license and assurances that he did not suffer from mental illness. The store owners said, through their attorney, that Cruz only purchased the semi-automatic rifle off the shelf and did not purchase any accessories, modifications, or ammunition so as not to raise eyebrows.

Both owners are, according to their attorney, distraught.

Why do you think all gun buyers are "ignorant white wing gun-strokers"?
That seems a bit racist to me. My SIL is AA and she just bought a handgun in Florida.
You don't really think it out before you "tirade" do you?

not make one a gun-humper. I suspect most of your buddies at the Discussionist have many more than one gun.

Her reply....I quote...."I'm married to your "gun humper" white brother that voted for Hillary." "We like to shoot together, but tell your friend I don't know the
'..ignorant white wing racist gun-humpers' he/she speaks of."

Maybe you shouldn't speak for people you don't know. She has 1...my brother has many.

12. Everyone who buys a bottle of booze isn't an alcoholic.

The fact remains that lots of alcoholics buy bottles of booze, and the liquor stores make most of their money supplying them.

If you say Liquor stores make MOST of their money selling to alcoholics....I'd respectfully ask to see the data that supports that claim

4. "Distraught." Note to all gun shop owners: those guns you sell? Whose sole purpose
Mon Feb 19, 2018, 09:35 PM

is to kill things? We can pretty much guarantee that one or more of those things that you are selling whose sole purpose is to kill things will be used to kill one or more people.

So now you know. So let's not hear about how distraught you are when it happens, kay?

7. He 'bought it off the rack,' ya mean, like a three-piece suit?

Attorney Douglas Rudman, who represents shop owners Michael and Lisa Morrison, told reporters in front of the store Thursday evening that Cruz purchased the semi-automatic rifle off the rack, in a box, and did not purchase any ammunition with it other than the magazine that came with the gun. Cruz did not purchase accessories or make any modifications to the AR-15.

Well WTF, some kid bought a freakin' AR-15. !! Seems to me that thing is designed to kill lots of people very fast. That's it. duh !!!!!!!!!!!

He included a copy of his driver’s license, his name, address, date of birth, sex, height, weight, and answered “no” to questions about whether he had been adjudicated for mental illness or whether he had been institutionalized for mental health illness, Kaplan said.

So anybody can lie.. Super duper. Am I missing something here?

“It is for that reason that no red flags were raised,” said Rudman, who is an attorney with Boca Raton-based Rudman Law Group. “It seems like Mr. Cruz made a deliberate attempt to not draw suspicion by not buying too many things from one place.”

10. Report: Owners in favor of more restrictive gun legislation.

Feb 2018
‘‘He [Cruz] was not a regular customer of ours,’’ Kim Waltuch the owner of Gun World told the Daily Mail. ‘‘We went through the process of the background checks which is the only way we release a firearm. He was immediately approved.’’ Waltuch said the store has been raising money for victims of the shooting. - The Boston Globe

The store where the Parkland shooter got the gun has closed its doors for good, and the owners are now in favor of more restrictive gun legislation.

Change is coming.
