(And, if you think 35,000 is a huge amount of people, the NYC police department has 40,000 employees in total. So, 35,000 for the entire country versus 40,000 for a city of 8 million.)

If the cops had been called on this person (and it sounds like it was mostly when he was a juvenile) but there was nothing even on those calls to raise a flag when he went to buy the firearms, WHAT WAS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO DO?

(12,882 posts)Our supposed freedoms once afforded us the right to be deemed innocent until proven guilty. That whole ideal went south with the 1950s. Now it's "Guilty until proven innocent" if you even just LOOK suspicious. And fate forbid - you harbor any criminal thoughts, protest in groups or happen to be wearing the wrong shade of skin!
