..."Hundreds of ALEC’s model bills and resolutions bear traces of Koch DNA: raw ideas that were once at the fringes but that have been carved into “mainstream” policy through the wealth and will of Charles and David Koch. Of all the Kochs’ investments in right-wing organizations, ALEC provides some of the best returns: it gives the Kochs a way to make their brand of free-market fundamentalism legally binding....."

LA Times

Following the Clooneys’ donation, producer Jeffrey Katzenberg and wife Marilyn also pledged $500,000 to the movement and said they, too, would join the demonstration, according to the Hollywood Reporter. That pledge was soon matched by filmmaker Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw, Deadline reported.
“The young students in Florida and now across the country are already demonstrating their leadership with a confidence and maturity that belies their ages,” Spielberg said. “Kate and I applaud their efforts to take a stand for the benefit of this and future generations. They are an inspiration to us all.”

This is what President Obama meant when he said, "We are the change we seek." I'm so happy for all of those young people effecting positive change in this crazy, upside down world we are currently in.

Oh, and wouldn't it be wonderful if President and Mrs. Obama matched this? And Bill and Hillary?

In any case, it's great how many people have contributed to the cause.

Ordinary people and celebrities alike.

I know celebrities get the credit (and their donations certainly help bring attention to the cause), but look at the Go Fund Me pages and see how many non-celebrities have given $25 or $50.

That is truly inspiring to me.

The intent was how so many people are donating $50 and deserve as much praise for doing so as these celebrities.

Did not mean to denigrate the celebrities - it's great that they are donating!

If every one of them donated just $5 to this cause, we could outspend the NRA. I'm donating $50 my next paycheck. Give what you can. Even $5 can make a huge difference if done in large numbers.
