Axios: Trump pushing for his pilot to run FAA

(CNN)President Donald Trump is pushing to have his longtime personal pilot, John Dunkin, to head the Federal Aviation Administration, according to a report from Axios.

Dunkin, who flew Trump's personal plane during the campaign, is reportedly on the short list for the top spot at the agency that oversees civil aviation in the United States. Dunkin has previously told people that he would often face delays while flying Trump around and that a pilot running the agency would prevent that.

Administration officials have been pushing back against industry critics of the potential appointment.
"John Dunkin isn't just a pilot," an administration official told Axios. "He's managed airline and corporate flight departments, certified airlines from start-up under FAA regulations, and oversaw the Trump presidential campaign's air fleet, which included managing all aviation transportation for travel to 203 cities in 43 states over the course of 21 months."

My wife could run the FAA. She’s never been a pilot, but she is a corporate travel agent, specializing in group and international travel. She has many of the same skills Trump’s pilot evidently has.

When I told her about this story, she laughed hard.

do so many “know-nothing’s” have important jobs in this administration? This is just nepotism at its blatant worst!

Although they will and have confirmed totally unfit Trump appointees to many positions, they won't do it in this case. After all, they too fly commercial air lines. And you can be certain they always take care of themselves first.

'Rump is afraid of anyone who has not eternally kissed his butt. Look at how these new people turned out for him. Sessions recused himself, which is a betrayal. Gates, et. al. betrayed him by being caught, some even flipped. A few Republican elected officials betrayed him by speaking up about his incredible ignorance. All the Republican Senators and Representatives betrayed him by not voting yes in lockstep for things he wanted. The Senate betrayed him by not removing cloture.

'Rump thinks this is how things are done with unquestioning loyalty, kickbacks and paybacks. He keeps a mental payback list and it is apparent that Obama is at the top of it.

He could be an effective king of Nambia, but that's it.

a pilot with a felony record and other pilots so incompetent the press corps worried about getting to their destination alive. When Pence's plane overshot the runway, the press said it wasn't the first time the landing was botched. But this is typical Trump. Ability and competence are secondary to Don worship, loyalty and easy money.
