I have a semi-automatic rifle.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by NH Ethylene (a host of the General Discussion forum).

It's a .22.
Pretty innocuous looking.
It has a 10 round magazine.
For me, it's just about convenience.
I don't have to stop to re-load between shots.
At least not till I've fired 10 times.

If semi-automatics were recalled, I would gladly exchange it for a single shot, bolt action .22.
My life wouldn't change.
That's it.

The only things that worry me are my healthcare costs, Climate Change and of course the midterms.

Target shooting?

Hunting things that you then eat, like rabbits?

but it only now occurred to me that the .22 rifle I use for squirrel hunting (yes, I eat tree rats that I kill) is a semi-automatic. It only just now occurred to me because I've never shot more than one round at a time. It's not that I'm a particularly good shot and always kill the squirrel with the first shot. The problem is that if you miss a squirrel, it won't stick around for you to shoot again.

It would be OK with me if the semiautomatic .22 was suddenly illegal. I have a single shot shotgun- as in I have to break the breach and reload every time I shot. It's less sporting (it's hard to miss a squirrel with a shotgun) but I'd be OK.

When that happens, you won't have time to reload.
