12. True, in the 1970s until 2000 my sister worked at a poor school

One family the kids took turns coming to school because they only had one pair of shoes for three children.

My sister was into thrift store shopping so she allocated money and bought clothes in various sizes and styles to give to kids whose clothes were worn out. She bought shoes and backpacks, too.

She was the school counselor so she did not try to supply school supplies, but she made sure there were always clothes for any child who needed them.

She retired about 2002 so is no longer at the schools daily. I hope someone else has picked up where she left off!

As a nation we don't care about education - you might - good on you - I do too. But nationally we just don't.

4. Can I adopt a class?

and send them some supplies money during the school year? Can I send a teacher a gift card? In the school my kids attended, a public school in one of the top 100 towns in the US for income, kids got extra credit for bringing tissue to class. This happens everywhere, but striking teachers deserve special help.

where teachers deal with the same thing. I think it's the same all over.

Has been for many years. That's why teachers tend to be democrats, though many of the striking WV teachers identified themselves in interviews as Trump(R) voters. Not sure where they thought that was going to get them.

9. heartbreaking. But the last point about "selling their children's medication"

sounds like an awful rush to judgment. Do they think most parents are criminals???? Perhaps they can't afford the medication? I ask because I know a lot of people on various ADHD medications and none of them sell it.

Parents who lie to their child's pediatrician about their child's behavior to get the medication in the first place. It's amazing how many children I have worked with over the years who are diagnosed with ADHD but clearly don't have it.
