But there ends the princely tale. By 2003, when his wife, Joan, was dying of cancer, Prince couldnt hide his affair with the familys former nanny, Joanna Houck. She had moved from Michigan to work for Blackwater, at its Moyock, N.C., facilities and wound up pregnant with Princes child before Joans death. At some point, Joan found out and, according to one person close to her, insisted that that woman be kept away from her children, Simons reports. Even so, Houck showed up at her funeral already pregnant and married Prince a year later.

(6,122 posts)One of the biggest disappointments of my political life was his behavior while Elizabeth was dying. I had seen her at a rally in Pensacola when she was still campaigning for him. I thought so highly of her. I Stood on the tarmac at the local airport to see him appear the night before the election in 2004. Cheered for him and even shook his hand. When the story came out of his affair and the child that resulted from that affair, I was stunned and disappointed to the point of complete disgust.
So if Prince thinks that he will make himself look better by trying to explain how he got tangled up in an affair while his wife lay dying, he might want to rethink that strategy.

I think he's a manipulative sociopath and his second wife got out while the getting out is good.
Now his THIRD wife is a piece of work. She and her husband used to both work for him - Erik and Katherine Stacy Deluke Capace Prince (Stacy Deluke) had divorces right around the same time.
She was the idiot who posted pics of herself at Trump Tower on election night.

(11,767 posts)Edwards was a rising star and admired by many until his lack of character was revealed. He had a hard fall and the only mention of his name in Democratic circles is for derision and disappointment. Same with Elliot Spitzer, though not to the same extent.
Prince, Gingrich, Trump, McCain, Vitter, and on and on... have similar histories and yet to their base, it matters not. Unfortunately, Prince won't suffer any real consequences for his lack of character. In Republican/Conservative circles that is not a bug, it is a feature.

Plus Prince still has the ingredients for his own mercenary army, just waiting till someone gives him the green light. And the money.

(15,359 posts)reason they tell us we need more military spending because the military is depleted? DOD spending it totally out of control but we need more. Is that because we're giving away so many billions to those contractors to supposedly do jobs the military used to do just fine for themselves, like run mess halls and truck convoys.
It's beautiful, as they would say in Goodfellas. We train guys in the military, they lure them away with big bucks. Then they charge us enough to pay the huge salary, house and feed them if it's overseas, and turn a real nice profit. We then get to spend the bucks to recruit and train new guys.
I pissed off a kid that worked for us at the blood center a couple years back. He was just Naval reserve but was talking "going Blackwater" shit. I said those guys were crooks and he didn't like that much. I explained that I didn't have a problem with the kids wanting to get training and go for the money, but that Prince was a sleaze and was scamming us. I probbly didn't convince him.

(15,359 posts)bad water, bad laundry washed in contaminated water, you name it. Add the problems they have had with their guys going out of control and killing civilians.
They were probably right in the middle of the disappearing billions in cash too. Missing money? I think not. Someone knows it all got to right where it was supposed to go, in the right peoples off shore accounts. Pallets of cash probably loaded on an unmarked plane and out of Iraq or Afghanistan as soon as it landed.

(6,916 posts)DeVos's husband in this 2002 speech at the billionaire-biased Heritage Foundation discusses the GOP billionaire strategy to destroy public ed:
Like most other conservatives and libertarians, we see vouchers as a major step toward the complete privatization of schooling. In fact, after careful study, we have come to the conclusion that they are the only way to dismantle the current socialist regime."
...Because we know how the government schools perpetuate themselves, we can design a plan to dismantle them."
The plan was designed in think tanks funded by Koch, Scaife, Bradley, Olin and other mega-donors, but the execution at the state level has been the project of Dick and Betsy DeVos.

(9,445 posts)Come on you know how penises can act. They have this tricky way of secretly getting out of your pants without you knowing. They also have this way finding their ways into the vaginas of women without asking your permission. You know those penises, they have a mind of their own. So, no it did not slip into the nanny's vagina while Erik Prince was passing her in the hallway. It actually did a jailbreak/pantsbreak and had sex with the nanny all by itself.

I cared more about myself than my family, so I didn't think to spend time with them, or to go to marriage counseling. Then, when my wife was battling and dying of cancer, I wasn't man enough to be faithful to her until the end, thus ignoring my marriage vows. My in-laws graciously came to take care of my children and my home during this time, because I was too selfish to do it, but I disrespected them, my children, and my wife by fucking the nanny. I was so disgusting, I failed to use birth control while I was fucking the nanny. Because of my carelessness, I impregnated her and had a child out of wedlock."

(33,643 posts)Without knowing the dudes history, 'Joanna' is an unknown age woman, who at some point worked for the family in nanny capacity for X years, which was Y years prior to the affair. At time of affair, she's 'admin' at 'Moyock Facilities'. Is Moyock in Virginia or Michigan?
Everyone seems to be assuming she must be the CURRENT nanny and hence likely quite young ... not sure where you get that from?
Are you assuming that 'admin at moyock facility' secretly means 'our kids current nanny'? If so, why?

Prince has seven children. His youngest child, Charles Donovan Prince, was named after William "Wild Bill" Donovan.[58]
